RCGNTN (pronounced re-cog-ni-tion) was started in August 2009 as a magazine dedicated to local talent. It has now grown to be a movement inspired by local culture.
A Brief History
Starting out in Singapore, RCGNTN was driven by knowledge of the lack of exposure given to Singaporeans passionate in their craft. Recognizing the need to put the spotlight on these talented individuals to showcase their work, RCGNTN MAGAZINE: Singapore was born with the ultimate purpose to change the common misconception of local/ Asian talent.
Over the years since its inception, the magazine has steadily grown to be the country’s source for 100% local content, ranging across the different disciplines of art, music, and design.
What We Are
But we learnt that exposure is not enough. RCGNTN instead encourages a holistic view at the local scene in totality. Taking inspiration from conversations, events and not to mention the talent the country plays host to, RCGNTN celebrates the Singaporean identity and culture through artistic propagations, events and interviews.
Our Channels
The RCGNTN Movement has spread to different channels, on top of the online magazine that many are accustomed to.
XIV seeks to pose questions on the local climate based on the ideology of free speech in the country. Taking a more pro-active approach, XIV seeks to provide a commentary on current affairs and issues that require your attention, offering different perspectives for your consideration.
RCGNTN Magazine continues RCGNTN’s work of putting solely local talent at the forefront, updated periodically with creative works from some of the country’s best. Covering the different disciplines from art and design, music to fashion, the magazine seeks to open eyes to local talent as well as unite the different disciplines together in one site. We strive to promote knowledge sharing, the nurturing of young talent and understanding.
Our online SHOP stocks our label, RCGNIZED Products. Using the medium of fabric and tees as a canvas of expression, the label has only just begun.
